Old PDX is short for an Old Portland home. The style is generally an American Four Square at heart with added creaftsman accents such as wrap around porches with large beams and bold eaves.

The layout is typically an off-set entrance with a formal entry way including a staircase along the wall. Looking forward from the entry you will be looking at the kitchen through a walkway and to your side is the living room. In the corner opposite the entry is the dining room.

Up stairs you will generally have a mezzanine with built ins that leads to 3-4 bedrooms at the corners with a bath between two of the smaller rooms or 3 bedrooms with a large bathroom.

Many larger Old-PDX’s have formal stairs to the attic which is many times finished out as a modern family room or master suite.

Basements, if built tall enough can make great spaces - often times with outside entrances midway up the stairs to the main floor.

We will be talking with architects, builders and historians about what they think makes this style unique.
